The Process: Created using the traditional method of “lost wax” casting, each sculpture is made by hand. Molten wax is poured into plaster and rubber molds to generate the overall form of the sculpture. Then each piece is carefully handled and any surface irregularities are corrected before the piece is encased in a ceramic casting shell. The wax is burned out of the shell, leaving a void of the sculpture’s shape. Bronze heated to two thousand degrees is then poured into the ceramic mold. Once cooled, the shell is broken away from the rough bronze sculpture. The surface is cleaned, sanded and buffed before the polychrome patina is applied to give the sculpture it’s unique color. A wax coating is applied over the patina to help persevere the surface. Each sculpture is signed and dated. A certificate of authenticity accompanies each sculpture.
