Interiority
The frenetic pace of modern life deprives many of us of the time to consider or acknowledge our mental or spiritual state of being. Nuances commonly overlooked in the day-to-day provide the inspiration for much of Broel’s work, and this work incorporates those subtleties in order to cultivate an awareness that can transcend time and place. The vase, a metaphor for the human vessel, is at once precious yet utilitarian, mysterious yet known, open and closed. This body of work uses containers—and ideas about containment—to inspire contemplation in depth.
